Elizabeth Di Rocco

Program Manager

Bio

Elizabeth studied Physics at the University of Ljubljana after moving to Slovenia from her birth town in Mendoza, Argentina. During her time at university, she was a part-time software developer. She joined the IT industry fully in 2005 as a Cisco intern.

During her 10 years at Cisco, she focused on Wireless technologies and took on different job roles becoming an expert at European level. She has worked with companies from all segments and verticals throughout Europe. After Cisco, she ran a 5000 AP network for a manufacturing company as a Wireless Network Planner.

Her career took her to the UK and VMware. As an NSX Systems Engineer, she became an expert on network virtualization and micro-segmentation. One of her main tasks as an NSX SE was to educate customers on these new technologies. Teaching customers with disparate backgrounds became one of her favorite parts of the role. She mastered whiteboarding, which is now her preferred tool to explain complex concepts.

An engineer and educator at heart, she has tried her hand as a Cisco instructor, mentor, and conference speaker. She likes to present, answer questions, and debate. But most of all, she likes to see the spark in people’s eyes when they understand new concepts or ideas.

Elizabeth joined NIL in 2024 as a Program Manager for the NIL Learning team. In this role, she is focused on making sure we are always delivering the right products, following technology development, and keeping up with the IT industry’s educational needs.

What I Love about Working Here

NIL is a company I have always admired. It is one of those rare engineering-driven companies that truly value knowledge and skills and will actively invest in the education of their employees. Many of my friends and colleagues from the IT industry work here, and to me, it was a natural next step in my career to join them. As a member of the NIL Learning team, I have come to love my peers, who are always kind and supportive; the leadership team, which respects new initiatives and ideas; and the incredible team of women that are part of NIL, who are talented, caring, and strong. At NIL, I feel valued every day. And I definitely love that!

Life Outside of Work

I am a mother of a young teenage girl, four dogs, a cat, and a little hamster. Together with my partner Peter, we tackle all the many challenges of family life as a team. Between the two of us, we combine family members in 4 different countries and 2 continents. Family reunions are always a logistical and language challenge.

Having studied physics and math, I remain a science enthusiast to this day. I like keeping track of research advancements and solving complex math problems. I am also a culture geek who likes to quote random phrases from obscure sources. I love colors in everything around me and will always choose the odd and weird over the boring and overused. I also love playing strategy games—board games or video games. If you catch me doing sports, I may be cycling or playing squash.

In my free time, you will never see my hands idle. I am a fiber art addict who will never be more than 2m away from yarn or thread. I have been knitting since I was 8, cross-stitching since I was 19, and crocheting for the past 10 years. I am seriously considering buying a loom next and trying my hand at weaving. Please, don’t tell Peter… yet ;-). I truly love creating things with all types of materials. The more colorful and challenging the project, the better.
