Open enrollment refers to a type of training that is publicly available and published on NIL and Cisco websites so anyone can register. Open enrollment trainings can be viewed here.
Closed enrollment refers to a type of training organized for a specific group of learners/specific company. This type of training is not publicly available and not published. The courses can be delivered online or at your location and tailored to fit your reality so your engineers can apply the knowledge faster. The course is excellent for upskilling several engineers or whole departments.
At NIL Learning, you can either attend Instructor-Led training, which can run in person or virtually through Webex, or take an e-learning course. At the first option, you will be able to interact with an instructor and other students in the class, while at the second option, you will be able to study at your own pace within the duration of e-learning.

Instructors at NIL Learning are highly qualified professionals with extensive expertise and experience in their respective fields. All our instructors are Cisco Certified Systems Instructors (CCSIs) with multiple advanced certifications across various Cisco technologies and solutions. They bring practical, hands-on industry experience, having worked on complex projects for leading organizations worldwide.
In addition to their certifications, many of our instructors are distinguished members of the CCSI Working Group, where they help shape and enhance Cisco training programs and certification paths.
The minimum number of students required for a course to run at NIL Learning can vary depending on the specific course. Generally, a minimum number of registrations is needed to ensure a productive learning environment, but the exact number may differ from 2 to 5.
A Cisco.com ID, also known as CCO ID (Cisco Connection Online ID), is a unique user identifier that allows you to access a wide range of Cisco resources, including training, documentation, support, and more. It is required for attending a class because it ensures secure access to Cisco learning platforms and materials, and for tracking your learning progress. By using your CCO ID, Cisco can provide a personalized learning experience and maintain a secure environment for all learners.

We have Cisco training centers in Slovenia and South Africa, and you can also attend instructor-led training remotely (online) from your home or office. NIL Learning runs a centralized training schedule and offers courses to learners world-wide. Unless otherwise stated, all the scheduled courses will be conducted online.
We offer courses at NIL’s location as well (Ljubljana, Slovenia). If needed, we can also deliver courses at your location for your group of learners (closed enrollment).
Contact our team for more details.
Guaranteed to run (GTR) courses can be found through filtering on our web page and here.
Yes, we do. Our instructor-led training (ILT) provides an effective and engaging way to learn high-end technology content from experienced professionals. You can attend these sessions in person or remotely from anywhere in the world. Check our schedule for more details.
Recommended prerequisites for training typically include a basic understanding of networking concepts, familiarity with computer hardware and software, and foundational knowledge of operating systems. Experience with IP addressing, network protocols, and basic troubleshooting skills can also be beneficial. Some advanced courses may require prior completion of entry-level certifications or hands-on experience in network administration or support roles. Each training has recommended prerequisites listed in its description.
During the training, the learners will receive course materials (Student kit), hands-on lab access (as long as the course includes Remote Labs), direct instructor support, a Certificate of Completion, and Continuing Education (CE) points (as long as the course is included in Continuing Education program).
Learners attending the training can expect to gain practical skills in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting networks, enhancing their understanding of core networking concepts and protocols. They will develop hands-on experience with real-world scenarios, improving their ability to implement secure and efficient network solutions and boosting their confidence and readiness for professional certification exams or roles in network administration.
Yes, learners can communicate freely with the instructor and other students throughout the class. Our trainings are designed to encourage interaction by using the Webex virtual meeting tool, where you can participate in live chat, ask questions, engage in group discussions, and collaborate on exercises in real time. You will also have opportunities to network with other professionals, share experiences, and build connections that extend beyond the classroom.
Learners receive an official Certificate of Completion at the end of the training. This certificate acknowledges participation and successful completion of the course, which can be useful for showcasing your skills and knowledge to potential employers or for continuing education purposes.
A remote lab is a virtual environment that provides access to Cisco equipment and software for hands-on practice. It allows learners to simulate real-world scenarios and apply what they have learned in a controlled setting, all from a remote location.
Labs work by providing a set of tasks or exercises that learners must complete using the remote lab environment. These tasks are designed to reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical application, often using real or simulated Cisco hardware and software configurations.
Access to labs is provided to learners by an instructor at the beginning of the training.
Access to the remote lab is limited to the duration of the course.
Accessing a remote lab requires a stable internet connection and a compatible web browser. Some labs may also require specific software or plugins to be installed on your computer. Detailed system requirements are provided in advance.
Not every course includes a remote lab. Whether a course includes a remote lab depends on the course’s objectives and structure. Courses focused on practical skills or technical certifications are more likely to include remote labs. Each training has lab exercises listed in its description.
To access the Course Book or Student Guide, you must have an active Cisco.com ID (CCO ID). Access details are provided a few days before the start date of the training and on the first day of the training by the instructor (in case an email from Cisco is missed).
Access to the Course Book (Student Guide) is related to the learners’s CCO ID and is valid for the life of a specific course.
Yes. You can redeem your Cisco Learning Credits (CLCs) for courses provided by NIL Learning. There are two different ways:
– If you need a seat or two (the so-called Open Enrollment training): We regularly schedule courses eligible for CLC payment. You can book and pay for a course directly at the Cisco Learning Locator website.
– If you need dedicated training for your company or your customer (so-called Closed Enrollment training): Let us know your requirements and we will organize the training for you.
We regularly update the courses on the Cisco Learning Locator and can adjust the schedule depending on the interest from the market. If your course is not scheduled at the moment, we suggest you contact our team to discuss the options for scheduling it.
It can take up to two weeks to schedule a course on the Cisco Learning Locator, so you can pay for it with CLCs. However, if you have an urgent request for training, our team will make sure that the schedule will be updated as soon as possible.
Yes, if you have at least 4 students. We suggest contacting us before registering at Cisco website so we can ensure the proper arrangement.
On the Cisco Learning Locator, look for training provided by NIL Data Communications and with the CLC eligible icon. Example:
No, you can redeem CLCs only directly with Cisco, not with NIL Learning or any other Cisco Learning partner. For open enrollment courses, you can pay with CLCs only on the Cisco Learning Locator website. For private courses (closed enrollment), contact our team and we will help you redeem your CLCs with Cisco.
Cisco applies tax to all in-person instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual instructor-led training (VILT) orders to comply with Cisco corporate, federal, and local Tax/VAT governance. Cisco introduced the Cisco Learning Delivery store to comply with global tax requirements. This platform applies associated taxes to in-person instructor-led and virtual instructor-led transactions regardless of payment method.
1. If your customer redeems Cisco Learning Credits (CLCs) for in-person instructor-led and virtual instructor-led orders, they must also use CLCs to cover the associated taxes for the transaction. Cisco will not be able to split the payment method between CLCs and a credit card.
2. A minimum of 1 CLC will be applied toward tax when collection is required.
3. Tax is calculated based on whether a class is virtual instructor-led or in-person instructor-led training as well as specific state/province/country tax applicability.
4. If your business is tax-exempt for purchases, you must provide a Tax-Exempt Certificate when you make your first purchase through the Cisco Learning Delivery store.
For European tax-exempt companies:
Most countries have a version of Tax-Exempt status, and it is produced to US companies by way of a VAT number. Methods on how companies are identified, the ways they apply and maintain tax-exempt status, and their proof of tax-exempt status vary.
For US tax-exempt companies:
1. Even if you apply for federal tax-exempt status, this exemption is not applicable for state taxes. You must have a state-specific, tax-exempt certificate in order to apply the certificate at checkout for an ILT offering. Note: See the FAQ on virtual vs. on-site tax calculation to determine how to best apply this certificate.
2. If you are in a jurisdiction that does not tax ILT Offerings, you will not be assessed tax at checkout, and therefore an attached tax-exempt certificate will not adjust the price. If you are in a jurisdiction that does tax ILT Offerings, you must attach your tax-exempt certificate to make the order tax-free.
– Each state has a different process on how to produce a seller-specific, tax-exempt certificate. Typically, this can be done online.
– Ensure that the seller for tax-exempt certificates is Digital River US.
– If you are purchasing multiple offerings, consider choosing the “blanket” certificate type instead of “single.” This will allow the certificate to remain associated to your Cisco Learning Delivery Store account.
3. Federal Tax-Exempt Status: This is a status that an organization must apply for and maintain through the United States Internal Revenue System (IRS). You can learn more and apply for tax-exempt status here.
4. If you are not sure whether you are a tax-exempt organization, you can do a quick tax exempt company search.
5. The certificate will be requested during the check-out process.
6. This certificate is typically maintained by the finance or purchasing department of an organization. If you do not have the certificate in your possession, we encourage you to reach out proactively to your internal team and obtain a copy before you start the check-out process.
7. If you cannot find a copy of your certificate, you can request a certificate in two different ways:
– If your company completed the initial application online (typically after 2020), the originator can log in to their online account and download a copy.
– If your company completed the application through mail or before 2020, you can complete Form 4506-A to request a copy.
