First things first; some of you may already argue that I missed the title all together. If it is collaboration now, should it not be collaboration instead of voice engineers? If your memory serves you well, you already know that it was the PBX not that long ago, that gave way to IP voice. IP voice gave way to Unified Communications. Unified Communications gave way to Collaboration, hence the title. And somehow in those passing two decades or somewhat more – one was and stayed a voice engineer.

That is why I personally would stick to voice engineers for the near future, or in this article - at least. Although I have to admit, as everything in our IT industry, my holistic view on the voice engineer is also about to change – even quicker and sooner that I dare to imagine.
