The Implementing Segment Routing on Cisco IOS XR (SEGRTE201) v2.0 is a 4-day instructor-led and E-learning course that introduces learners to concepts of application engineered routing, which encompasses segment routing traffic engineering and its associate protocols, network migration options, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) egress engineering, and Cisco Agile Carrier Ethernet (ACE) architecture.
The SEGRTE course is designed for engineers and service providers who are building their networks to take advantage of Application Engineered Routing (AER). Segment routing is designed for the software-defined networking (SDN) era.

When delivered online, as a virtual-instructor-led training (VILT), the course is run in five separate sessions on consecutive days, each session lasting around 6 hours or less.

Prerequisite Knowledge

The knowledge and skills that a learner should possess before attending this course are as follows:
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS XR platform and command-line interface (CLI)
  • Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP routing and switching design and configuration in a multilayer service provider network
  • Understanding of Internal Gateway Protocol (IGP) operations for Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS) protocol and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol
  • Understanding of MPLS, Layer 3 VPN, and BGP technology and implementation
  • Practical knowledge of service provider MPLS network design and implementation strategies
