The Cisco DTA Control System (DTACS) v2.0 is a 3-day instructor-led lab-intensive course that introduces the learners to the Cisco Digital Transport Adapter Control System (DTACS) features, functions and topology.
In this course learners learn the important theoretical concepts which the Cisco DTACS is based on, and gain the practical knowledge and skills to operate and maintain the Cisco DTACS in their network. As an alternative to a set-top box, a Cisco Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) enables subscribers to watch digital broadband services on analog and digital televisions, as well as other display devices. This course takes a task-oriented approach to teaching the skills needed to understand and operate a Cisco DTACS for Cisco DTA management.
This course combines lecture materials and hands-on labs throughout to make sure that learners can successfully operate a Cisco DTACS.

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
  • Describe Cisco DTA functions, hardware and software
  • Describe Cisco PowerKey DTA (pkDTA) versus Cisco universal DTA (uDTA)
  • Describe Cisco DTACS in the Digital Broadband Delivery Network
  • List Cisco DTACS functions
  • List Cisco Explorer Controller functions in the Cisco DTACS
  • List Cisco DTACS 4.0 topology and key components
  • Describe Cisco DTACS 4.0 conditional access topology: bulk encryption versus edge encryption
  • Describe Cisco DTACS 4.0 dual-carry of PowerKey and Universal DTA traffic using DVB simulcrypt
  • Describe Event Information Scheduler functions in the Cisco DTACS
  • Describe Cisco Digital Content Manager (DCM) Netcrypt 2.0 functions in the Cisco DTACS
  • Describe Cisco PowerKey Control Generator (PCG) 3.0 functions in the Cisco DTACS
  • Access and control the Cisco DTACS
  • Set up a channel on the Cisco DTACS with pkDTA and uDTA simulcrypt
  • Synchronize the Cisco DTACS with the Cisco EC database
  • Describe Cisco DTACS service packaging
  • Describe Broadcast Service Groups (BSGs) and Virtual Channel Tables (VCTs)
  • Describe Cisco DTACS IP streams (service information [SI], authorization management message [AMM], and conditional access table [CAT])
  • Configure the multicast for emergency alert messages (EAS)
  • Configure Common Download
  • Manage Cisco DTAs
  • Operate and monitor the Cisco DTACS
