The Technology-Led Training (TLT) center is equipped with high-end Cisco videoconferencing technologies that enable students to participate in the class even if the instructor is not physically present in the classroom and without compromising the learning experience. This is NIL’s first TLT center in Kenya and next to Botswana, Nigeria and South Africa already their fourth in Africa.

NIL, Cisco Learning Partner Specialized and Cisco Global Learning Partner of the Year 2014, and Interdist Alliances, Cisco Authorised Distribution Partner, joined forces to open the new Cisco training center in Nairobi, Kenya. By creating this facility to provide vital Cisco training and support for engineers in Kenya, NIL is further demonstrating their ongoing commitment to help bridge the skills and talent gap in the region.

The TLT classroom at the Interdist Alliances offices in Riverside Drive is equipped with high-end Cisco video conferencing technologies that enable students to participate in traditional instructor-led training as well as in advanced TLT sessions with a remote instructor. Students can also participate in classes remotely, from their home or office, using Cisco TelePresence technology that helps them to enjoy the class as if they were physically present. TLT provides a live, interactive training experience, similar to that of a classic learning environment. There is no compromise in skills transfer, and the quality of learning is as deep as if the instructor were physically present. Instructors can see the remote students’ desktops and guide them seamlessly in developing their skills. TLT centers give students the opportunity to attend courses, which otherwise would not have been possible, due to insufficient numbers of participants or even inability for trainers to travel to the country on short notice; and therefore significantly reduce the chance of class cancellation.

This is already NIL’s fourth TLT center in Africa; in addition to Kenya they have centers also in Botswana, Nigeria and South Africa. “TLT is unique and innovative approach to learning delivery in Kenya and I believe it will make Cisco training even more attractive for students from the region. Africa is an extremely important market for NIL and we have over the years developed a strong presence on the whole continent. With the help of TLT and our partners, NIL now runs one Cisco training schedule over the whole EMEA, that is unique among Cisco Learning Partners, and we will continue to work hard to be actively involved in developing high-skilled engineers in Africa,“ said Klemen Štular, NIL, CEO. Kris Tierney, General Manager, Interdist Alliances had this to say about the partnership with NIL: “We are very excited to partner with NIL in delivering this new and much needed service to Cisco customers in Kenya, and the rest of the East African region. The ability to deliver affordable training locally (in Kenya) has long been an objective for Interdist Alliances. We look forward to witnessing the development of the Cisco brand through the availability of quality Cisco training that will ultimately manifest in a broader understanding and adoption of Cisco solutions.

Students from TLT centers in Africa typically also join classes in two other NIL TLT centers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Ljubljana, Slovenia. Through the use of advanced Cisco video technology, TLT is profoundly changing education, helping students and instructors to create new types of classrooms, which help them attend training around the globe. Cisco recognized TLT solution with the Innovation Award at the Cisco Global Learning Partner Summit 2013.
