Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security Certification redesigned, launch of the new Cisco Cybersecurity Specialist Certification and various Security Specialists Certifications to be retired.

Cisco has redesigned the existing security curriculum and introduced new offerings that provide network security engineers, analysts, and product specialists with the skills to successfully address the current and future security challenges.

The changes include the following:

  • Redesigned CCNP Security certification program
  • New Cisco Cybersecurity Specialist certification
  • Retirement of the existing Cisco Security Specialist certifications
  • New and updated product training courses
  • More focus on key job functions within the trainings, rather than product specific

 

CCNP Security Certification Program Redesign

The redesign of the CCNP Security certification reflects the skills and responsibilities required of today’s network security engineers, who increasingly require a holistic end-to-end understanding of the complete security posture.

What happens if I am in the process of getting CCNP Security certified?

Candidates in the process of attaining their CCNP Security certification have the option of completing their remaining exams before the last date to test on April 21, 2014 or of migrating to the new exams, with credit applied for the existing exams passed. Launch of the New Cisco Cybersecurity Specialist Certification

The Cisco Cybersecurity Specialist certification recognizes security professionals who have attained Specialist-level in-depth expertise and proven knowledge in the essential areas of proactive cyber-threat detection and mitigation.

Designed for professional security analysts and leveraging the features of Cisco and other network industry security products used today, the Cisco Cybersecurity Specialist certification focuses on the topics of event monitoring, security events, alarm and traffic analysis, and incident response.
