The Cisco Data Center certification track has been revised for IT professionals to keep on top of the latest skills and trends in data center infrastructure, including management, automation, unified computing and advanced virtualization.

Data center technologies continue to evolve at a rapid pace, and to enable data center professionals to keep up with the changes, Cisco announced a major update to their CCNA and CCNP Data Center certification tracks. The new CCNA and CCNP Data Center certifications validate job-ready skills and knowledge in various technologies that enable the data center for IT-as-a-Service agile infrastructure. In addition to data center network management, key skills the Cisco CCNA and CCNP Data Center certification and training programs provide include streamlining operations through automation, establishing policy-driven infrastructure across data center physical and virtual resources, implementing unified computing and advanced virtualization, and the capability to collaborate efficiently with cloud and application services teams.

NIL has been actively involved in shaping the new CCNA and CCNP Data Center curricula.

New CCNA Data Center v6.0 exams and training

The new CCNA Data Center certification and training program validates and provides job-ready foundational-level certification and skills in installing, configuring, and maintaining data centers: networking; server, network and storage virtualization; storage concepts and protocols; unified computing; and policy-driven infrastructure.

As of January 17, the CCNA Data Center exams and training are being revised from v1.0 to v6.0. Cisco announced two new training and corresponding exams:

In comparison with the v1.0 courses, the course names and acronyms remain the same but each of the exam numbers has been updated. Until April 11, 2017, candidates can choose to take either version of the exams based on their unique situation. The last day to test for the old 640-911 DCICN v1.0 and 640-916 DCICT v1.0 exams is April 11, 2017.

For more information, see the CCNA Data Center v1.0 to v6.0 certification training and exams update details.

New CCNP Data Center v6.0 exams and training

The new CCNP Data Center program validates and provides professional-level knowledge and skills needed to design, implement, and manage a complex, modern data center infrastructure. The key areas of focus include data center networking, unified computing, virtualization, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), and data center automation and orchestration. CCNP Data Center certified professionals are qualified for senior roles in complex data centers – they are able to deploy a common, standard approach for policy and application deployment models across the data center infrastructure and cloud.

As of January 17, the CCNP Data Center exams and training are being revised from v5.0 to v6.0. Cisco announced five new training and corresponding exams:

From January 17, 2017 through July 3, 2017, you may choose to take either the version 5 exams or the version 6 exams, or a combination of both. See the CCNP Data Center v5.0 to v6.0 certification training and exams update details or the CCNP Data Center Exam Migration Tool to get information on what exam options are available in order to achieve a CCNP Data Center certification.
