Description

The Deploying Basic Cisco Wireless LANs (WDBWL) v1.2 is a 3-day instructor-led course that introduces the learners to the Cisco Unified Wireless Networking for enterprise deployment scenarios. In this course, learners learn the basics of how to successfully plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain basic Cisco wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions in a customer enterprise environment, both as an add-on to an existing WLAN as well as a new Cisco Unified Wireless Networking solution.
This course builds on top of WLAN terms, concepts, protocols, architecture and WLAN characteristics introduced in the Defining Cisco Wireless LAN Essentials (WLE) e-learning course. In this course learners investigate the components, features, and deployment aspects of the system.
Learners have the opportunity to reinforce what they learn with hands-on labs. This course focuses on the essential network elements of a WLAN—the access points (APs) and wireless LAN controllers (WLCs).
This course provides high-level information about the optional but recommended network management and services appliance components of a Cisco Unified Wireless Network—the Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI) and Mobility Services Engine (MSE)—but does not provide hands-on labs and in-depth coverage of these components. The Cisco management platform and MSE are covered in more depth in a separate course called Managing Cisco Wireless LANs (WMNGI).

Objectives

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
  • Differentiate the characteristics of a unified wireless LAN architecture, and configure and test the WLCs, APs, and basic features
  • Differentiate the characteristics of a FlexConnect architecture, and configure and deploy a FlexConnect-based WLAN
  • Perform routine maintenance, network monitoring, and common troubleshooting tasks on the Cisco WLAN
  • Describe and perform configuration with Cisco's new Ease of Use wizard, and best practices audit
